Best Clean Beauty Must Haves

As you’re all aware, we’re big on skincare that is as beneficial as possible for your skin, with as minimal irritants as possible. If you’ve read our Clean Skin Care article, then you know the term ‘clean’ varies depending on who’re you’re talking to, but with us we not only discourage the use of irritants like certain alcohols, but also harmful physical sunscreens like Oxybenzone. So, though we gave you great tips on how to clean up your skin care products, we realized it might be more difficult to clean up those oh so coveted makeup products you’ve grown to love. But like it or not, if you’re determined to clean up your beauty routine—that includes both skin care and makeup. So to make it easier on you, we’ve not only rounded up our favorite acceptable beauty brands—we’ve also isolated a product from each brand giving you what you need for a stunning face founded on a clean foundation.

Ilia Beauty

Super Serum Skin Tint SPF, $46

We’re so in love with this skin tint because not only is it packed with ingredients we love like hyaluronic acid and sqaualane, but it’s also a mineral spf of 40! The downside, like so many clean beauty brands—it’s lacking in an abundance of colors. However, if there is a bright side, it’s that the 18 colors that they do provide are color adapting and may fit more skin tones that they initially appear. Lastly, the serum is buildable so you can have as minimal or as medium of coverage as you want. The finish is dewy though so the less, the better.

Honest Beauty

Extreme Length Mascara + Primer, $17

The beauty of this product is that it’s a 2-in1! Not only is it a mascara on one end, but it’s a primer on the other. In our book, spending less for more is a win honey—and at this price point it’s simply unbeatable.

Beauty Counter

Sheer Lipstick, $32

Beauty Counter is a favorite of many beauty enthusiasts, and their sheer lipsticks are as pretty as a picture. The hydrated formula is packed with jojoba esters, castor oil, and comes in 11 indulgent shades.

e.l.f.

Instant Lift Brow Pencil, $2

Listen, it comes in 6 colors, its $2 and it does the job. Sold.

rms beauty

Luminizer, $38

If you were hip to the clean beauty movement before it was cool, you’ll have heard of rms. Their luminizers are renowned and they come in multiple colors to suite your fancy.

Ilia

The Necessary Eyeshadow Palette, $38

Ilia is probably our favorite beauty brand, and their shadows do not disappoint. The pigments are rich and silky, and this palette comes in both cool and warm nude.

Kosas

Color & Light Palette, $34

Kosas is another one of those beauty brands that have made a name for themselves in the clean market. Among their many great products is their blush and highlighter duo. They have cream and powder versions so there’s something suitable for everyone.

Kjaer Weis

Eye Pencils, $26

Founded by Danish born makeup artist Kirsten, this brand perfectly embodies the Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic that may be simple but is simultaneously chic. Not only is their packaging beautiful, but this creamy and smooth eye liner should become a staple for even the hardest to please of makeup lovers.
